Reception have begun their toothbrushing program! Don't forget to brush your teeth for 2 minutes.

Reception enjoyed exploring Diwali, the 'Festival of Light.' We located India on a map and looked at photos of traditional Indian food, clothing, and homes, comparing them to our own.

We then focused on the story of Rama and Sita, created clay diva lamps, and designed henna tattoos. I am sure you will hear some of them singing 'I'm a little diva lamp' this weekend.

What a busy end of last week! Thank you so much to everyone who managed to pop along to our phonics sessions in Reception. I hope this has given you an insight to our day to day activities and some ideas to help support at home. Keep an eye out for our next parent event coming soon.

In Reception, we have been exploring animals that hibernate, learning about the reasons and timing of their hibernation. Working in groups, we then designed and built homes that would be suitable for a hibernating animal.

Thank you for attending our Early Years Nativity last week. The children were amazing and thoroughly enjoyed sharing the Christmas memories with you all.

Today, the Reception children worked collaboratively to rescue the animals trapped in the ice. They explored various methods to break and melt the ice, revisiting key vocabulary from the previous half term and applying it during their investigation.

This week, we’re exploring Lunar New Year. We’ve been reading the myth about the animals of the Chinese zodiac that participated in a race and discovered that we are either rats or pigs. Later in the week, we’ll learn about China and compare our lives to those of children living in another country. We’ll also be cooking and tasting different foods.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Parent Stay and Play in Reception! It’s always wonderful to have you here, supporting your children's learning and getting a glimpse of their environment throughout the week. You all did an amazing job creating birdhouses to wrap up our DT project this term!

The Reception children have enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing Friday to unwind after a busy week. We focused on our mental wellbeing and explored ways to support others. We began the day with calming music and shared positive affirmations with our friends. Later, we treated ourselves to a spa experience that included soothing head massages and a foot cleanse, wrapping up with a fun manicure design.

After reading the story Mr. Wolf's Pancakes, Reception created a shopping list with all the ingredients needed to make pancakes. We then took a trip to the local shops in Shiney Row to buy everything on our list. Back in class, we made some delicious pancakes and even tried flipping them ourselves!

Yesterday we had a wonderful visit from Valerie, our new Lollipop Lady. She introduced herself to the children and talked about how she can help keep us safe. Later this week, we’re looking forward to another visit from someone else in our community who helps keep us safe.
