Physical Education

Our Physical Education Vision Statement.

All pupils leaving Shiney Row Primary School will be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

Objective: To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools against 5 key indicators.

  1.  the engagement of all pupils in physical activity - kick-starting healthy, active lifestyles
  2.  the profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school  improvement
  3.  increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4.  broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  5.  increased participation in competitive sport

Mrs. Gauchi is the PE lead. Children can speak to her at any point with suggestions or questions about their PE activities and parents should feel free to contact her via. Class charts message.

After school clubs and activities Autumn Term 2 2022.
 

Monday – Times Tables Rock Stars Homework Club – a chance to get the homework out of the way, improve your rock status and challenge others. Will include a drink and snack. £1.00 per week. Open to Y2 -6. 3.20-4pm 

 

Monday – Change4 Life. Play fun games and learn about healthy lifestyle choices. 3.20- 4.00pm Available to all classes. £1.00. This club may use outdoor space weather permitting. Please ensure children have warm clothing available. 

 

Monday – Netball – Y5&6 only. Great chance to improve your skills with a qualified coach who has previously worked with the England squad. This club is aimed at children who would like to represent the school in the netball league. All children currently on the team must attend in order to practice. 3.20-4.15pm. £2.00 per week.  

 

 

Tuesday – Football. 3.20-4.15pm. Y3-6 Open to boys and girls. A good chance to train and show what you can do. Great idea for those children aspiring to make the school team and those on the team who would like to take advantage of some extra training. Please note this activity will be outside unless the weather is extreme. All attendees need suitable, warm, rain resitstant clothing to train in. Â£2.00 

 

Tuesday – Fit and Fun – a session to allow children of all ages to improve fitness while having fun. 3.20-4.15pm - £2.00 per week. Open to all ages including reception.  

 

Wednesday – Art – Open to all years. Maximum 16 children 3.20-4.15pm. £2.00 

 

Wednesday– Rugby – KS2 only. Open to boys and girls. A fun non-contact introduction to the sport. 3.20- 4.15pm £2.00 per week. 

 

 

Friday – Cheerleading. Level 1 Cheerleading skills and simple routines. Open to KS2 only and maximum of 10 children. 3.20-4.15pm. £2.00 per session. 

 

 

Children attending sports clubs are able to come to school dressed as they would on PE day. If extra clothing is required they will need to bring this in a bag and change when at the club. To avoid confusion football strips are not part of school PE uniform. The clubs will all begin on the second week we return and run up until the week before we break up. Please note places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and all of these clubs have limited places available. Cost is shown weekly but clubs must be booked and paid for per half term. If you would like to secure your child’s place please contact Mrs. Harris via class charts. If you attended a club last half term we will not assume you still want the place unless you let us know.
