Personal Development

At Shiney Row Primary School, personal development is an integral part of our curriculum and wider school life. We are committed to providing children with a rich range of opportunities that enhance their learning beyond the classroom, helping them to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a strong sense of responsibility. Through educational visits, enrichment activities, sporting events, leadership roles, community projects and cultural experiences, our pupils are encouraged to broaden their horizons and develop the knowledge, skills and values needed to thrive.

Some of our children from Years 4, 5 and 6 have been taking part in the Back on Track Programme, where they have been learning how to become positive ambassadors within school, promoting safety when riding bikes, motorbikes and scooters. To end the programme, the children were able to take part in a go-karting experience, where they could put their skills and knowledge to the test. It was a fast-paced afternoon, filled with fun and excitement and the children throughly enjoyed it. They represented the school brilliantly and we are very proud of them all.

Our Visit to the Grange Care Home

We were delighted to take a group of children to visit The Grange Care Home as part of our commitment to building strong links within our local community. The children were exceptional ambassadors for our school, demonstrating kindness, confidence and respect throughout the visit. They enjoyed chatting with residents, playing games together and sharing refreshments, creating lots of smiles and meaningful conversations along the way. Experiences like these help to strengthen connections across generations and provide valuable opportunities for our children to develop empathy, communication skills and a sense of community. We are incredibly proud of how they represented our school.
