PE Funding Statement
PE and sport premium for primary schools
This funding is being jointly provided by the departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and sees money going directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE.

From September 2013 the Government has allocated funding directly to Primary Schools to support the provision of quality PE/Sport.
Schools must spend the funding on improving their provision of PE and sport but are free to choose how to spend it.
In order to get the best value and maximum sustainable impact for our children we have allocated the monies as follows:
Grant Received 2016-17
£9200
Salary costs for HLTA to deliver PE lessons:
- 5 hours per week normal curriculum lessons (9am to 11.30am)
- 5 hours per week lunchtime sports activities (12.15pm – 12.45pm)
- 25 hours per week for pre and after school sports activities (3.30pm – 4.30pm)
Total: £7,200
- Mr Football - to work with our Reception children to improve basic skills including fitness and flexibility, co-ordination and agility and attitude towards exercise, health and participation in sports.
Total: £1,500
- Increase participation in local sporting events and surrounding costs (ie transport, entry fees and staff costs).
Total: £500
In addition, Shiney Row Primary School also provides for:
- Sports coaching from Premier Sport for our Year 5 and Year 6 children to improve basic skills including competition and challenge, fitness and flexibility, co-ordination and agility and attitude towards exercise, health and participation in sports.
Total: £5,700
- Professional development opportunities in PE and sport activities organised by Biddick Sports Academy.
Total: £3,000

Teachers to work alongside coaches to develop their confidence and skills, higher quality of teaching. Develop children’s personal, social and emotional skills. Compete and WIN competitions. Aim is for every child to attend at least one competition by the time they leave Primary Level.
Develop personal, social and emotional skills, reduce obesity levels. Educate children and families on the importance of healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle.
Improve talent and direct children to local clubs. Develop personal, social and emotional skills and gain free coaching from local clubs.
Chance for children to compete. Personal, social and emotional development.
Children become more adventurous and are able to try different none traditional sports, create club links.
Children gain the basic moves and fundamental movements they need, before moving on to competitive sports in KS1/2.

Pool funding with other local schools to employ a specialist teacher to train existing teachers and teach PE across the cluster schools.
Provide activities for children in the school holidays.
Establish a house system to enable regular, inter-house sports competition for pupils of all ages. Children will compete in their house colours the last day of term.
Forge links with local secondary schools to help the primary staff improve their PE provision. |
