Year Six Visit To Northumbria University Newcastle

On Tuesday 18th November, Class 1 went on a visit to Northumbria University. We had to leave school at 8:30am so we had to get out of bed extra early! When we arrived at the university, we were spilt into three groups and were assigned to two students. The students were studying really exciting things such as mechanical engineering and biochemistry. In our groups, we did a treasure hunt around the library; used the computers and even checked out and returned library books.

The library was huge and we had to be really quiet. After that we went to Sports Central where we looked at some of the facilities and took part in a dodge-ball tournament. It was great. Then we had lunch on the balcony whilst watching some of the students play games of volleyball and badminton.

After lunch, we played campus monopoly where we used a map to find different buildings and parts of the university. We had to answer a range of questions based on what we found. At the end of the day, it was time for us to graduate. We all received a graduation certificate and some people even won prizes such as university hoodies for being a great member of the group. We had an amazing day and didn’t realise how big university is – there are around 34,000 students! We now know lots about what you can do at university and lots of us really hope to go there one day.
