School Council  Visit To New School Build Site - September 2015

Members of Shiney Row Primary School Council were recently invited to view the progress to date on the building of our new school, to be opened in September 2016.

We were all very excited to see how such a large and impressive building was built from the very beginning. Before we could even enter the site, however, we were all required to put on Hi-Viz waistcoats and hard-hats for Health and Safety just the same as anyone working on-site. We also had a briefing on site safety before we were escorted around to see the work carried out so far.

It was really interesting to see the concrete and metal skeleton of the new school which will shore up the walls, floors, ceilings and roof of the building, and to imagine where our new classrooms would be in the layout.

We were also all allowed to sign one of the girders for posterity so perhaps in many, many years time when our new school has served it's time and children are ready for another new school to be built someone will see our names on the girder and wonder just who we were?
