In Reception we have been working on our language and communication skills through role play and collaborative learning in and outside of the classroom. 

The children have travelled to space, in our space station role play area many times, have encountered aliens and used tools to fix the space station and rocket when asteroids have hit.  We have been developing our imaginative play and breath of vocabulary, using all the facts about planets and space travel we have learnt in our topic lessons. 

We have been using our newly donated wooden small parts kit to develop our collaborative and team work through imaginative role play in our outside space.  The children have built a range of different buildings from a new school, a princess castle, a space rocket to a fire station using these resources.  The pupils have used life experiences and learning from school to develop the narrative of their play through speaking, listening and communication.
