Year 1 Spring 1st Half Term
Literacy
We are working really hard towards reading independently. We are now reading in pairs and reading real and nonsense words.
Mathematics
This term we are focusing on addition and subtraction using a range of methods to solve it. We have been using number lines, tens frames and whole part models.
History
The children have been very curious studying the Royal family over the past few weeks. We have looked at their family tree and how we can find their relationships using it. We are going to be looking at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the different roles people played.
Science
We have been investigating what materials objects are made from in the classroom and why they are made from that material. In the next few weeks we will be discovering what are the best materials for specific purposes and then carrying out experiments to prove our thinking.
PE
This half term we are focusing on Gymnastics.
