Our Governing Body has recently reconstituted under the School Governance (Constitution)(England) Regulations 2012.

Election

Staff Governors (excluding the Headteacher) are elected through a staff ballot process (if necessary) following nominationParent Governors are elected through a parent ballot process (if necessary) following nominationLocal Authority Governors are appointed through a selection criteria by the Local Authority, upon approval of the Governing body, Co-Opted Governors and Associate Members are appointed by the Governing Body.

All Governors are subject to a DBS check.

The role of the Governing Body

The Governing Body is a corporate body who sets the aims of the school together with the staff and put a range of policies in place to support that direction. Governors are accountable to parents and the local community through OFSTED and work closely with the Headteacher and senior staff. They generally meet twice a term and monitor performance through reports and discussions; offering support and challenging when appropriate. Governors are responsible for staffing, finance, premises, the curriculum and the future planning of the school.
